Is there a deadline relating to the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot?

The Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB) is an alternative, downloadable ballot which you can use to vote in General Elections* for the offices of President/Vice President, U.S. Representative, and U.S. Senator - as well as the non-voting congressional representatives from the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, etc. It is accepted by all states and territories.

The FWAB is used by registered overseas and active duty uniformed services voters who have not received their official absentee ballot in a timely manner.

To qualify to use the FWAB, an important option for you to hold, you must complete and send your Voter Registration/Ballot Request form to arrive, either:

1) by 30 days prior to the election,

2) on or before the deadline established by the state.

The longest deadline applies. You may check your state deadlines list in the State-specific Voter Information Directory.

If you are registered to vote, and you do not receive your state-supplied absentee ballot by one month before the election, we suggest that you to download, print, complete and mail the FWAB which you can do from our site. If you saved your registration information in My Voter Account, login and access the FWAB with a click of a button. If you do not have a Voter Account, you can click the FWAB option on the left menu sidebar.
